Congratulations are in order as South Africa’s golden boy Trevor Noah scores six Emmy nominations including Outstanding Variety Talk Series and Outstanding Writing For A Variety Series.
Noah expressed his gratitude after “The Daily Show” was recognised by the Television Academy.
Sharing the exciting news, the South African comedian and television host wrote: “Tired and scruffy but blessed and fulfilled. Truly incredible to see @thedailyshow team nominated for 6 Emmys this year! Is this even real life? Thank you @TelevisionAcad for the honour! 🙏🏾”
Fans took to different social media platforms to celebrate Noah’s great milestone.
“Always making South Africa proud 🇿🇦! Continue to soar 🙌,” commented singer and television host Nandi Madida.
“Congratulations Trevor ❤️,” wrote former “Isibaya” star Jessica Nkosi.
“@Trevornoah, Well done well done well done,” added “The River” actress Tsholofelo Matshaba.
“Congratulations @Trevornoah on your @TheDailyShow ’s 6 #EmmyNominations. It is a dry season but grit like yours is inspirational for all, particularly young ones 👌👏,” commented former Public Protector Professor Thuli Madonsela.
In light of the global coronavirus pandemic, Noah has been hosting a version of “The Daily Show” from the comfort of his home in New York City.
In May, Variety reported that Noah is personally paying the salaries of 25 team members out of his own pocket.
“These are the people who have been on the show with Trevor from day one and help him put on the show.
“Trevor is personally covering their salaries until the production business opens again. He respects his crew tremendously and feels it’s only right that they get through this together,” a source told the publication at the time.
Meanwhile, the annual awards ceremony is set to take place on Sunday, September 20. The show will be hosted by American actor, television host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel.
