March 11, 2021 – The recently published book, “The American Reality: Being a Black Alien in the White Man’s World” by African immigrant, public speaker, and development consultant Shaka Bello is an eye-opening narration of his personal experiences and reflections of finding success on the American soil as a social entrepreneur.
“’The American Reality’ is a result of my desire to shine my light during this difficult time, and use my story to inspire others to be a better version of themselves regardless of the challenges they face,” says Shaka Bello.
Shaka has poured out his heart and soul into this book, sharing all of his personal experiences during his journey from Ghana to the US. The book contains all of his reflections over the last 10 years of his stay in the country. The account includes his student days at the university and the challenges and struggles he faced afterward.
“My memoir exposes some of the blind spots in today’s American society and prescribes ways in which we can fix those problems together,” says Shaka Bello.
For Shaka, everyone is in some way part of the African diaspora, given that life started in Africa. His social entrepreneurship through Bello Consultancy LLC thus revolves around creating cultural connections and revealing common human traits. Such initiatives give him a greater sense of meaning after exiting Corporate America.
Shaka holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Ghana and a Master’s in International Affairs from Ohio University. His most recent venture is Bello Consultancy LLC. He began this last year after feeling the need to pivot as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and the social justice protests. Bello Consultancy is committed to promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Central Ohio and beyond.
