ID Africa has shown support for the 2020 edition of the Music and Entertainment Gospel Awards.
The marketing, media and technology company is a subsidiary of public relations giant, Black House Media.
According to Femi Akintunde-Johnson, the National Coordinator of MEGAwards, the company has deployed its impressive media infrastructure: Net.ng and Neusroom.ng, to support the November 15, 2020 virtual award ceremony.
Akintunde-Johnson revealed the collaborative effort of ID Africa during a Question and Answer segment hosted live on Facebook on October 17.
“It has been difficult getting sponsors for the event. The reluctance by big corporate organisations to support faith-based events is a challenge we have been facing over the years,” said Akintunde-Johnson, popularly called FAJ.
He added: “Thankfully, ID Africa has come through for us. It’s leveraging its media infrastructure and assets, and we are grateful to its owner, Adekunle Ayeni, who rather would not want publicity for this. However, we cannot keep quiet about it because we are profoundly grateful to him.”
FAJ, a veteran journalist, further explained the motive for the award: “We have seen that gospel artistes, and entertainers in that category are under-reported and under-celebrated. This award organisation is created to bring positive exposure on the creative talents in the gospel music genre of the Nigerian entertainment industry.”
In an earlier statement by its media and publicity team, MEGAwards said it has opened public voting for the various awards categories via its website: www.megawards.org, and on www.facebook.com/MEGAwards.
The 15-category award is holding remotely on November 15 in compliance with COVID-19 protocols for person-to-person events.
