A man has been contracted to collect waste tires ahead of the much talked about three years jotna protest march, Freedom Newspaper can reveal. Njogu Secka has been allegedly paid six hundred thousand dalasis (600,000) by the government to help keep the streets clear of tires before the scheduled protest march. He was seen today grabbing tires in the Greater Banjul area.
Three years jotna is a movement, which says it is determined to organize protest marches in December to compel President Adama Barrow to step down from power. The Movement mainly Gambians residing within and outside the country had insisted that Barrow must respect the three years transitional rule he agreed with his Coalition colleagues.
“The goal for the tire collection is to ensure that no tires would be seen on the streets before the protest march. The government doesn’t want the protesters to have access to tires in which they could burn during the protest,” said a source.
