China Jiangxi International Economic and Technical Cooperation Co.,Ltd., a Chinese construction company is constructing a police station in Zambia’s Chongwe district.
Juvenalis Mulimbika, a civic leader said Monday that the Chinese firm which commenced construction of the police station in October last year has so far done a commendable job and that the works were progressing well.
He disclosed that the project would include: a police station and six housing units for police officers, while an additional 144 houses would later be constructed on a different site to be identified.
He said that the construction of the houses would help reduce the housing deficit for police officers in the district.
According Mulimbika, the project once completed will help improve security in the district as the police will have a good environment to operate from and the public will have easy access to the strategically situated police station.
The old police station was not conducive and had no accommodation for police officers. Enditem
