Those who know art, especially West African arts, would understand the aesthetic and ambience it brings to any space, however small or brief. All that is needed as far as art is concerned is a little touch here and there in your living room, bedroom, bathroom, others. So having to fuse West African art into contemporary designs to enhance a soothing and classy home feeling will always give you a yearning to return home.
Based on this, Embasan Living (EL), a premium soft furniture brand has introduced contemporary bed and bath linens fused with West African art strand to meet luxury and class through the use of the finest fibres and the best mills in Italy and Portugal. It also crafts a premium range of contemporary products that exude refined luxury and comfort.
“We have realised there is no contemporary African luxury bed and bath linen abroad, so the idea is to also make our luxury market available abroad. So the brand will be bringing into the world of interior décor, the scale and quality sourced from around the world.

“All of our bed and bath linens are produced in the finest mills in the world with very high grade cotton for our linens” she said.Kola-Balogun, however, cited that gone are the days when people have to wait until they can travel abroad or have someone returning to the country help buy their bed linens due to the quality they get from foreign bed linens as opposed to what we used to have. “This market gap in terms of quality is what we have now filled through the range of luxurious bedding.
Nature as inspiring elements for designs
It has been revealed that the luxury brand is majorly inspired by the elements of water, air, fire and earth. Executive and Creative Director EL, Teni Sagoe noted that the designs are close to nature, so it can be relatable since the ambience of nature is a perfect way to start and end one’s day.
“The first range of our design is called drenched, which is close to the water element story. Water renews, refreshes and soothes. However, we picked the name Embasan because the literal translation is “to immerse oneself” or to “bath with clothes on.” We developed this notion into the tagline for the collection, which is drenched in cultivated luxury meant to make people feel luxurious and comfortable at home.
“Art is aesthetically installed in some of our beddings and the ideology is to elevate our bed and bath linens to art and to show the power of true artistry in Nigeria. The idea is to showcase the African art, appreciate it, and also illustrate how artistry is evolving in Africa. We want to use local mills to produce quality products.”
