As the COVID-19 fight continues, the Angolan government had promised to support hospitals in every way possible. The executive said it would continue to make available resources needed to construct field hospitals and install more testing laboratories in other provincial capitals.
João Lourenço, the president of the republic, made the announcement. The president made known the government’s preparedness to make available fans, including other necessary bio-safety equipment.
While addressing the nation, the president said, among the top priorities, are the mobilization of the needed resources to equip COVID-19 treatment centers and boost training programs, which will be organized explicitly for paramedical and medical personnel.
The statesman also warned citizens, urging them not to relent while observing the laid down COVID-19 preventive measures. He reminded the nation that experts had warned that the country runs the risk of experiencing severe community transmission if the State of Emergency measures are disobeyed.
On another note, the president also went further to thank and encourage law enforcement agents, health professionals, churches, public figures, journalists, and citizens, who had given up their normal life to stay at home and ensure the virus doesn’t spread.
The president advised citizens to remain indoors, always wash their hands, and wear the face mask. He also urged them to observe social distancing, physical contact, and avoid crowded places.
The country’s new State of Emergency period runs from 00:00 on May 11th to 23:59 on May 25th.
